What is the BMI (body mass index) ?

What is BMI

The Body Mass Index (BMI) is an uncomplicated method for men and women to measure body fat based on their height and weight. From the BMI, it is achievable to conclude your healthy weight range.

Does it have flows

One of the boundaries of BMI is that it can over predict overweight or obese people who are lean and muscular. For example, a person who is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 220 pounds, with 12% body fat, would be measured obese based on BMI standards. Apparently, someone with 12% body fat is not overweight.

Why is it good ?

Scientists who urbanized the BMI guiding principles willingly admit to this restriction. But their justification is that the majority of Americans are not lean and muscular and so for most people, the BMI is a precise evaluation of body fat and increased health risk.

It is essential to know that people who are evaluated as overweight or obese can still be in good physical shape as long as they are fit. In one distinguished study, fit people with BMIs that classified them as obese or overweight were healthier and lived longer than unfit people who were at standard weight.
