eBay asks users to change their password


U.S.  online trading company eBay asked users to change their passwords after a cyberattack hit a bases its data. EBay stated that the database has been attacked in late February and early March and contained encrypted passwords and other non-financial information . The site added that there is no evidence of unauthorized activity on the accounts of users, BBC said on Monday.

eBay noted, however , that changing the password is a best practice and will help in the security of the site's users. The California based company has 128 million active users. Corporate site eBay stated that the hackers had access to the information after receiving the data to access the system on a small number of employees. The company learned about it two weeks ago.

" ... The database included names, encrypted passwords, email addresses, physical address, telephone number and date of birth of customers eBay", the statement said.

However, the database did not contain financial information or other sensitive personal information. EBay also owns website for money transfer PayPal. The company stated that its data is stored separately.
